The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Higher Education Design Quality Forum will be hosting its 2009 conference on Thursday 7 May 2009 at the RIBA.

Titled Delivering Projects in Uncertain Times, this year's conference considers Britain's higher education sector in the face of the current economic downturn, and the potential for positive areas of development for the future, as well as celebrating the role of design in supporting innovation in teaching and learning, reuse of existing buildings, procurement of new buildings and global participation.

The event is chaired by Ian Caldwell, Director of Estates at Kings College London, and speakers on the day include: Professor Murray Fraser, University of Westminster; Pooran Desai, co-founder of BioRegional; Tom Taylor, Vice President of the Association of Project Management and Miles Delap from Gardiner and Theobald.

Ian Caldwell, Chair of the RIBA Higher Education Design Quality Forum (HEDQF) said:

"This event is aimed at users, managers, estates directors, designers, project managers and environmentalists. We particularly recommend the day to university managers and users undertaking a major project for the first time. We believe the day will be of interest to all those involved in change within higher education and we will show how building projects can be used as a catalyst to support this."
