RIBA Honorary Fellowships

RIBA Honorary Fellowships 2005

The RIBA Council approved 17 new Honorary Fellowships in 2005 for professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, including construction, landscape architecture, politics, the arts and the media.
 
The RIBA’s 2005 Honorary Fellows were:

  • Professor Sir Christopher Frayling, Rector, Royal College of Art and
    Chairman, Arts Council England
  • Felicity Goodey, President, The Lowry Trust
  • Lord Gowrie, Former Chairman of the Arts Council
  • Mike Hayes, Former President, Royal Town Planning Institute
  • Rt. Hon. Alan Howarth MP
  • Hanif Kara, Director, Adams Kara Taylor Consulting Engineers
  • Roger Madelin, Chief Executive, Argent Group plc
  • Frances Morrell, Chief Executive, Arts Inform
  • Lord Moser, patron of architecture
  • Paula Ridley, Chair, Victoria and Albert Museum
  • Martha Schwartz, landscape architect
  • Mark Thompson, BBC Director General
  • Peter Walker, landscape architect
  • Rachel Whiteread, sculptor
  • Giles Worsley, architecture critic, Daily Telegraph


The Honorary Fellowships were presented on 21 April 2005 alongside the RIBA Trust Annual Lecture, delivered by Julia Peyton-Jones, Director of the Serpentine Gallery.
